North Andaman, South Andaman, and Nicobar are the three districts that comprise the Andaman and Nicobar Islands. The North Andaman district includes the archipelago’s northernmost islands, including Smith, Ross, and Aves. Diglipur, famed for its natural beauty and eco-tourism activities, is home to the district headquarters. The Saddle Peak National Park, Kalipur Beach, and the Ross and Smith Islands are among the most prominent sites in the North Andaman district.
The South Andaman district, which includes the capital city of Port Blair, is located in the archipelago’s southernmost region. The district has the most people and the most administrative offices, hospitals, and educational institutions of the three. The Cellular Jail, Mahatma Gandhi Marine National Park, and Corbyn’s Cove Beach are among the main tourist sites in the South Andaman area.
The Nicobar district, which includes the archipelago’s southernmost islands, is the least inhabited of the three districts. The district is well-known for its pristine beaches, lush woods, and diverse wildlife. Car Nicobar, the Nicobar Islands’ main town, serves as the district headquarters. Katchal Island, Great Nicobar Island, and Campbell Bay National Park are among the most famous tourist destinations in the Nicobar district.
